Oh My Darling, Clementine!

Oh My Darling, Clementine!

I have some big news! About a month ago, I adopted a kitty named Clementine as an emotional support cat. She’s currently about 7 months year old, and she’s one of my best friends.

She’s a diluted calico I met at the Pasadena Humane Society. As you can see from many of my other posts, I love the Society. Not only are they willing to protect mammals, they have an array of reptiles and birds, too! If you’re in the LA area and looking for an animal friend, I would definitely recommend stopping by (after you visit Caltech, of course!).

Well, back to Clementine. She’s a great cat to be around. She rarely meows (even when I took her on a 6 hour plane ride from LAX to JFK in NY), her best friend is my boyfriend’s cat from home, Chester, and she loves food more than most everything else (except maybe chasing birds). Normally the animal policy at Caltech prohibits cats from living anywhere other than the cat allies (hallways) within the houses. However, because Clementine is my ESA, the Deans and housing helped me sort out a living arrangement for myself in one of the off-campus Caltech-owned apartments. Though I had to move in the middle of term, Caltech did everything they possibly could to make sure the move was smooth. I can’t thank them enough; living with Clementine really helps me deal with my mental disorders! Because Caltech allows me to have her, I feel like I can do better in my classes and manage my stress. It’s just another one of the perks of going to such an inclusive, caring school.

Lounging around!
